~THIS MIC IS A PIPE BOMB!~

NEW ALBUM NEW ALBUM NEW ALBUM NEW ALBUM NEW ALBUM NEW ALBUM

Here it is, folks. No intro (I know, I know) cuz the whole moving situation kicked my ass and I feel like I need a fresh start to really get back into full-on production mode. So here’s the fruits of my labors for the past eight months or so, “This Mic is a Pipe Bomb”.

Mediafire
Megaupload

Here’s the track list:
1) Get Your Eyes Back In Your Head
2) (Who Will Be Laughing) Once I Learn Guitar
3) Focus In!
4) Manual Labor (Palms, Wrists, Knuckles & Fists)
5) The Realities of Municipal Hustle
6) Holy Diver
7) Turn Off the Damn Radio
8) The Spare Change Shake

And, yeah, a lot of this won’t be new to you if you’ve been following this page, but please spread this around as much as you can and, as always, feel free to rehost and relink and whatever the hell you wanna do to get the word out. I’m real proud of this and I’d like the world to know so go ahead and do your part — if you like the record, share it with a friend or whatever.

As before, this record is entirely self-produced, every sound on it is a sound I made unless I ripped it off a record — No external producers or engineers or anything, just two hands and a dream (and a cliched catch-phrase, apparently). The artwork was created by the talented Anderson M. Cook (andersonmcook@gmail.com) and the idea was to mimic the political hardcore records I grew up listening to from labels like Ebullition and Mountain. I think it came across REAL well.

The next record is definitely going to be much more of an “album” than a collection of tracks and I have some pretty heady ideas about it and a collection of interesting guests I plan on inviting to keep things from being such an insular process. Keep your eyes peeled for sure, thanks for your patience, and don’t forget that hip hop isn’t dead just cuz a couple people wanna sell their records by saying that it is.

“Get Your Eyes Back In Your Head”

[Get Your Eyes Back In Your Head]

New track. Total late 90’s shit in effect. Simple and shit. It’s hard for me to produce ’simple’ but I’m trying.

Couple of new tracks…

Wow. Just realized that I posted “The Realities of Municipal Hustle” to my Facebook page and not here. It’s there now.

Also, there’s a new song up about talk radio, “Turn off the Damn Radio”.

Both songs are at the bottom of the player until I figure out an easier way to get them up to the top. Thanks for sticking with me through this dry spell, ya’ll. More stuff coming soon.

“(Who Will be Laughing) Once I Learn Guitar”

NEW TRACK NEW TRACK WOOT.

[(Who Will Be Laughing) Once I Learn Guitar]

Definitely trying to go in sort of a new direction with production here, something a little sloppier and more sample-oriented. Also the flow is kinda a new thing for me too, trying to do something a bit more modern since I’ve basically been aping Kool G Rap for long enough that somebody is eventually going to figure it out.

satellite high IS johnny boob.

don’t tell anybody…. lol

to be honest, i was kind of debating posting this because i wanted to keep the JOKE STUFF separated from the REAL STUFF but I think it’s a pretty faithful tribute to the whole miami bass thing (i grew up surrounded by shit like Poison Clan and the 2 Live Crew) so hopefully people will get where it’s coming from and recognize the difference between making a funny song once in a while and dressing up in costumes and performing live shows at comic book conventions to sucker nerds out of their money.

i promise that i’ll be posting more “real tracks” soon but, in the meantime, please enjoy boobs.

Another new track — “Manual Labor”

This is a serious track about REAL LIFE CONCERNS so appreciate that shit or else I’m gonna continue to only write lyrics about how I am good at rapping.

Seriously, though, the beat has been out there for a long time and I even finished a version of this about two months ago that I never did anything with cuz it feels sort of strange to be airing out something so autobiographical. But I like the track so fuck it.

New track — “Focus In!”

streamin’ for your delight and amusement:

[Focus In!]

i plan on doing a lot of heavy lifting in the lab this week (metaphorically speaking, since i am actually not too into lifting heavy objects and i don’t actually own a laboratory). keep an eye here for new shit.

a few new tracks you may have missed.

i’ve been uploading most of my new work all over the place lately and if you’re only following one of my many facebook/myspace/whatever-the-fuck-else accounts, you’ve probably missed out on a few of the new songs i’ve tossed out there.  Here’s a compendium:

[Holy Diver] the first new track i threw together after getting my Logic Studio setup up and running.  i really like this a lot — the EW&F sample is pretty nice and i’m a big fan of the autotuned Dio chorus, which is pretty much completely the result of me not being very into the whole process of penning hooks.

[The Spare Change Shake] the sample is WAR, the banjo-sounding stuff is, at least.  these lyrics are actually from a much older track that didn’t make it onto “Sharks!” because it sounded sort of hokey.  i like this version a lot, though.

[Working a Gimmick 09] this is the new version of a track that was on the mixtape.  it’s a pretty belligerent shot across the bow of ‘nerdcore’, a personal pet peeve of mine, and the original track was recorded over an MC Chris instrumental for emphasis.  this is a hell of a lot better, though — the beat bangs pretty hard and the new third verse is definitely a spot-on recreation of the whole “hip hop as nostalgia trip” phenomenon.
